MARANELLO KART ON THE PODIUM OF THE KF2 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP WITH KREBS. EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE FOR CUCCO, GHid_clanekELLA UNLUCKY IN KZ2

IN THE KF2 AND KZ2 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP OF WACKERSDORF IN GERMANY, MARANELLO KART PERFORMS WELL DESPITE THE DIFFICULTIES CAUSED BY BAD WEATHER.

Wackersdorf (Germany). Excellent overall performance for Maranello Kart in Germany on the circuit of Wackersdorf, the venue of the single round of the KZ1 and KZ2 European Championship, besid_clanekes the first of the two rounds of the KF2 European Championship. Maranello took part in the competition with his drivers Stefano Cucco in KF2 and Matteo Ghid_clanekella in KZ2, besid_clanekes several other drivers racing for satellite teams.

It was a rather hard weekend, especially for the uncertain weather condition, with rain alternating with shafts of sunlight throughout the whole weekend, from the time trials and the qualifying heats until the Sunday morning Finals.

Despite all, the Maranello Kart chassis were absolutely performing and achieved excellent performances especially in KF2, where the colours of the Italian factory grabbed the podium in the first of the two finals with the Danish Thomas Krebs of the RS-Motorsport team. He achieved an awesome third place andMaranello’s good result was completed by the excellent eighth place grabbed by its official driver Stefano Cucco, who always struggled for the first positions. Krebs confirmed to be one of the fastest also in the second final thanks to his overall sixth position; on the other hand, Cucco got ensnared in the tussle and he even bended the axle after a contact. Anyway, he managed to finish 14th.

The Danish Andreas Sebastian Hansen - assisted by the EGP team and with a Maranello chassis and engine – was decid_clanekedly unlucky: he placed overall third in the trials but was relegated in last position because of a 100 gram underweight. He started always from the last position in the heats: for Hansen, under the rain, it was hard to recover and, in fact, he did_clanek not manage to enter the final despite he got a promising eighth and ninth place in the two heats. Hansen - it is worth remembering that he placed third in the KF2 European championship - was able to partly redeem himself in Final B with the fastest lap and, eventually, placing tenth, after a three second penalty at the start, while his teammate, the German Tim Zimmermann, placed eighth in this Final..

So, for the KF2, all is postponed to the second round of 22nd July in Brandon (England), where there will be two more finals with the final ranking decid_claneked by the three best results.

“The weekend did_clanekn’t start well in the time trials - said_clanek Stefano Cucco after his race -, that’s because the track was in weird conditions: sometimes wet, sometimes dry. In the heats I managed to climb up the ranking anyway and I achieved good results too, even a third and fourthplace. I used the RS12 chassis, which was more convincing after the tests we did_clanek in Wackersdorf the previous week; so, I managed to start from the 16th position in the Pre-final - on a wet track - and I grabbed the eighth place, recording good times too. In the final, unfortunately, I came in contact with another driver and I bended my axle. From then, with the kart constantly under stress, the engine could not operate at full power. Despite this drawback, I managed to finish 14th, but without that problem I would have been able to struggle for the podium."

Matteo Ghid_clanekella ran for Maranello Kart in the KZ2 European of Wackersdorf, but the driver from Milan had some problems in the time trials and he did_clanek not manage to record good times. For Ghid_clanekella, too, the race in Germany was full of troubles and having to start from the back rows of the starting grid_claneks of the heats, it was hard for him to enter the final.

Matteo Ghid_clanekella, a bit disappointed, commented as follow: “Unfortunately we made some mistakes in the setup of the engine for the time trials and I did_clanekn’t manage to get a good time. Ialways started from the 20th position in the heats and it was impossible for me to gain as many positions as I expected,

even though the rain did_clanekn’t give me many troubles. It is a shame, also because in the heats I had always the second fastest lap: it means that if I had been able to start from a good position I would have been able to getlots of satisfaction. In races like this, unfortunately, when you made mistakes in the trials you spoil your whole race. The chassis I used, the RS7, fitted all weather conditions, both on dry and wet track, and I used it with its default factory setup!"
