THREE! It’s the number of victories gained in Suzuka (Japan) by the Tony Kart Racing Team with Flavio Camponeschi on the occasion of the CIK-FIA World Championship’s first round, in KF1 category.
Camponeschi definitely won the first two competitions on Saturday and obtained a success in race-3 after the penalty given to Daiki Sasaki (Kosmic Kart-Vortex-Brid_clanekgestone). In race-4 our driver performed an excellent recovery, reaching the third position, after being pushed out of the track while he was running at the top. Camponeschi is the leader of the world ranking with a full marks.
In the CIK-FIA Asia Pacific of KF2 category, which title has been assigned out of a single round, our drivers Damiano Fioravanti and Federico Panetta obtained the second and the third position respectively, at the end of a weekend wholly run at the top. The success went to Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic Kart-Vortex), at the drive of a chassis conceived and totally manufactured in our factory of Prevalle.
In KF2 category the final ranking shows not less than seven chassis (Tony Kart and Kosmic Kart) in the first seven positions, all of them manufactured in our factory!
KF1 – Since the free practices our chassis proved to be high competitive and our drivers worked a lot to better tune them.
Thanks to the reliability and the competitiveness of their technical material, Carlos Gil, Petjoi and Armand Philo could concentrate on the knowledge of the Suzuka Circuit, 1,264 metres long.
During the first qualifying heat, held on Saturday 19th of May, Camponeschi signed the fourth best timing with 47.470. The same was the good performance of Armand Philo, who entered the top ten list with the ninth best timing. The pole position went to Daiki Sasaki, driver of our partner team Kosmic Kart Racing Department.
During the qualifying heats Camponeschi gave the good value to both his personal skills and his chassis potential and could gain two victories without any penalty.
In race-1 and race-2 the supremacy of Camponeschi-Tony Kart-Vortex boosted and our drivers could run two excellent finals, easily jumping from the first position and leaving the group behind. In both competitions Camponeschi ran ahead of Daiki Sasaki.
The second race host, amongst the leaders, the Japanese driver Takashi Kasai, who signed a good recovery until the seventh position with the best lap in race, too.
In the second day of race, Tony Kart and Vortex colours were once more the absolute protagonists with Camponeschi and the other official drivers Petjoi and Gil, these last two fought to conquer some important scores for the classification.
Race-3 was really exciting and under the chequered flag the success was signed by Sasaki, ahead of Camponeschi. A penalty given to the Kosmic Kart Racing Department’s driver allowed Camponeschi to perform his third world success of the weekend.
The final race of this world appointment was not so lucky at the beginning and at the first round Camponeschi, who was the leader, slid_clanek across the kerb. The inconvenience, due to the thrilling bagarre during the first moments of the race, cost Camponeschi many positions (12th).
This circumstance made our driver lose the leading positions but stirred up our driver to resort to his force and skills of fast drivers, highlighting the perfect set-up of the Racer EVRR and the “sensibility” of our chassis to take advantage of any situation. Under the chequered flag the recovery was done and Camponeschi could get on the podium and conquer one more imperative success.
Sunday competitions allowed Carlos Gil and Teemu Petjoi, their debut at the world event, to better understand the format on the four races. Both could thus end the final-4 in the first positions, actually Gil arrived seventh and Petjoi eight position.
At the end of the first out of two events who will assign the world title, the classification shows Flavio Camponeschi leader with not less than 75 scores and 15 positions far from Sasaki.
In the world top ten list, in ninth position, there is also our other official driver Armand Philo, ninth position, and very well determined during the whole weekend.
KF2 – The world success in KF1 category were moreover confirmed by the results obtained in the Asia Pacific championship in KF2 category, where our drivers Damiano Fioravanti and Federico Panetta succeeded just after the success of the Kosmic Kart-Vortex of Nicklas Nielsen.
Panetta during the qualifying heats obtained a great 48.701, reaching the third position, very close to the pole.
In the heats Panetta got the second position twice, conquering the third row at the starting grid_clanek, while Fioravanti took the tenth position.
In the final, the brave Nielsen succeeded but was Damiano Fioravanti who laid_clanek in wait for the Asia Pacific title.
Federico Panetta performer a positive weekend, getting on the podium for the first time in a CIK-FIA competition and moreover signing the best lap in time, with 49.038.
Many were the positive notes in this Suzuka event, amongst which a very important result.
The first seven positions of the Asia Pacific championship shows chassis manufactured in our Prevalle factory, actually we find four Kosmic Kart and three Tony Kart chassis. A result which highlight the quality of our products, always competitive, both when employed by official teams and experienced private teams.
It is a pleasure to see that in the first positions of the classification there is Ryota Kiyohara, winner of the Rok Talent Award 2011, who will be awarded by Vortex with the opportunity to compete wearing the Tony Kart official colours on the occasion of the European Championship and the World Cup of KF2 category.
Flavio Camponeschi – Tony Kart Racing Team’s driver and winner of the first three competitions of the CIK-FIA World Championship 2012.
“I am happy, how could it be different. If before leaving for Suzuka I was told that the final result was this, I would have not believe it. Anything is working excellently, the technical material and the team allowed me to reach this first target.
The first day I ran quite easily, I was fast and it was not difficult for me to reach the leading positions and win.
During the first race of Sunday I was lucky with the penalty given to Sasaki. On the other hand I was not so lucky in the last race, after losing time in the first round I could excellently recover and if I was not forced to run after other drivers I could have said_clanek something for the success.”
